What’s Come Through My Letter Box? #1

Well hello, there June! We’ve had some lovely weather recently and fingers crossed June will be kind and keep the sunshine out for us all! I have decided to turn this into a little series on my blog which I will probably do once per month where I share what has come through my letterbox! It will be a variety of things I have ordered, PR samples and it’ll be a chance for me to give you some first impressions, let you in on different brands and for you to know what products I’m trying and testing and products that will possibly make it into their own posts! Plus, if you are anything like me and super nosy you’ll love these posts!

I have been using John Frieda since I was a teenager. It’s the only thing that keeps my crazy freshly washed hair from looking like I’ve been dragged through a bush backwards! I know the Frizz Ease* range is a favourite of many (I also swear by the blonde shampoo and conditioner!) and for obvious reasons it’s great! The Forever Smooth shampoo and conditioner are my new favourite pairings! It helps build frizz immunity for smooth hair. I also have the original 6 effect serum* which promises to: eliminate frizz, humidity protection, heat protection, smoothes, hydrates and tames! Those are some big promises and we shall see!

Are you a fan of beauty blenders? I can’t be without them! I don’t even use brushes anymore to apply my foundation because I just can’t get the same coverage and finish I want. I’ve had a few of the original beauty blenders now and I’m currently trying out the Micro Mini* and let me just say…these little gems are a dream with concealer!

If you have been around here for a while you will know by now my loyalty to La Roche Posay! I have yet to find a brand that is as good as these for my blemishes and skincare concerns. I’m currently trying out the Hydraphase Intense Serum* which is an immediate rehydrating gel with no parabens. I love using gel products, especially during the summer months because they are so fresh and cooling! Did you know that they also have a makeup line? I have tried their BB cream before and loved it and now I’m head over heels for their Respectissme Multi Dimension* mascara which lasts all day on my lashes, gives them volume and length!

As much of a girly girl as I am, I’m still very much a fan of black! My photos are all up in the pink and white theme but my wardrobe tells another story and so does my nail polish collection! Give me black nail polish over pastels any day. In fact, give me all the nail polish because I LOVE having colour on my nails! I’m kind of now obsessed with the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer* in the shade Blacquer. Lasts for ages and isn’t patchy at all! Not to mention the bottle is so beyond beautiful! I have my eye on the shades: Daisy, Le Charm, Peep and Resurrection next!

I’ve always been a big fan of lashes and how they look but when it comes down to me wearing them I have never been able to find a single pair that actually stay on my lash line! I end up with them halfway down my face and I’ve always found them far too high maintenance. Pinky Goat* (seriously, that name is the best!) lashes are exclusive to Superdrug and they are gorgeoussssssss! They give extra volume, they’re reusable and they are human hair. Super soft and they have plenty of different designs. The type I have are the Ruba lashes and they will be perfect for a night out! I have tried these for the purpose of this post to see if they apply well and I can confirm they are so easy to apply, stay on my lashes but I want to see how they hold up after one too many sambuca shots!

I have a very interesting post series coming up on my blog this month that has taken so much work to do but I’ve had so much fun doing it! There will be a post including this Power Health Castor Oil BP* coming up soon. There are so many health benefits from using castor oil that include using it as a massage oil to detoxify the body, stimulates the growth of eyelashes and eyebrows and can help reduce stretch marks and cellulite. It’s suitable for vegans and vegetarians too and there is 250ml of product in a bottle.

I’ve been a fan of Blank Canvas for so long now, their brushes are like no other and there is so much selection for your needs! I didn’t realise they did make up though so I’m excited to try out the Winging It liquid eyelinerwhich has an interestingly long nib that has me rather curious!

I also have two brushes from Blank Canvas! The first being the F33 Extreme Contour Brush* which is a uniquely shaped brush that literally carves out your cheekbones so effortlessly! It’s a very short bristled brush and is very dense which makes picking up product and applying it strategically so easy! I have used this with cream contour and powder contour and I love its use for both! The brush is made with extra soft, high quality and easy to clean synthetic fibres!

The second brush I have from them is the F06 Bevelled Foundation/Contour brush*. I have used this for foundation with my Kat Von D Lock it foundation and it does give a flawless finish and makes it super easy to buff the product into my face. I’m not so sure I like it for contour as much as I do foundation but I think that’s down to my invisible bone structure and impossibly round face. I need a really precise brush to be able to create non-existent cheekbones and this doesn’t really give me the precise product placement I need! Plus, it’s in the most beautiful metallic pink shade I have ever seen in my life!

Skin Truth is a brand I have recently discovered and dare I say it…it’s all about feet! I hate feet so much but I work on my feet 9 hours a day so they can be a little worse for wear sometimes. I have been using the Callus Remover* and the Aloe Vera & Peppermint Intensive Heel Repair Balm* for almost a month now and I’ll be talking about the more in a post coming on my blog soon…and yes, it’ll be all about feet so brace yourselves!

I’ve always been really intrigued by vitamin supplements. I don’t have the most nutritious diet so I’m pretty sure I miss out on key things you would get from all the veggies so I was really curious when the O’Hisa Skin Nutraceuticals Antioxidants* through my letterbox! You get 30 soft gels in a box and the supplements include Omega 7-9, Hyaluronic Acid, B Vitamins, Superoxide Dismutase and Minerals. They promote inner and external beauty and I’m super curious to try them! I will, of course, report back and let you guys know!

I have been really getting into books recently and Nina Cosford’s ‘My Name Is Girl’ is my favourite thing ever. It’s a fully illustrated guide to the female mind. It’s beautifully illustrated and it’s strange to have a book with no stories but flicking through this will have you in awe of the art, full of laughter and it’s so incredibly positive, heartwarming and relatable! I guarantee you will be thinking ‘I DO THIS’ the entire time you look through each page! I wish I could show you photos of every beautiful page but this post would be so long if I did BUT, you can win a signed copy of this book! Just head on over to my Instagram by clicking here and enter! Be quick though because the competition ends 11/6/17!

I don’t really think I need to put this disclaimer in my posts but for the eye-rollers in the back I’ll just leave this here. I’m not in any way bragging about working with brands and being sent these things. I just wanted to way to share with you fun things that I’ve been sent/bought myself and to introduce you guys to products and brands you might not know of!

What’s something excited that’s made it’s way through your letter box recently?

*Products marked with a (*) have been sent to me or gifted to me. I have not been told to write anything, all photos and opinions are my own. Should you require more information please visit my disclosure page.

What a great idea for a post series! It’s annoying that you have to put a disclaimer in – but I’m sure someone would complain! I love the look of My Name Is Girl 🙂
